THE APPLE DOESN’T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE

My Grandad James, a hedge school teacher, was an acclaimed Roots Tracer in Tipperary. He was contracted to establish relationships for possible marriages so that inbreeding wasn’t an issue for raising healthy children. Next in line came Auntie Bridget, who continued the tradition with aplomb. She encountered a conundrum with a Fox lady from  Wisconsin on their intricate 19th century relationships. The upshot of it all was that I was asked to referee their squabble. I put all the facts on computer and reported to my elders that they were “both wrong“ due to insufficient provable relation records

This sorteé into amateur genealogy was the spark that ignited my passion for forensics, family tree making and solving mysteries.

A FAMILY HISTORIAN AND TOUR GUIDE

Over the past 19 years, I have gone on fascinating journeys with wonderful people from all over the world, investigating their Gaelic roots and family lore. On these ancestral tours, we have discovered hobbies, family secrets, crime and faction fighters. We have come across old family ruins, discovered ghost estates, pagan wells, and we have demonstrated traditional Irish games like hurling, road bowling, skittles and croquet.
